Amazon Prime Deal Days sales that seniors will love for home, travel or gift-giving

While many younger shoppers look to check gift items off their lists as the December holidays approach, older adults tend to focus on the emotional impact of the perfect gift, according to a survey from Intuit Mailchimp.

And when it comes to gift-giving, saving money often takes a backseat to finding gifts the recipients will love, perhaps with nostalgia or tradition attached. The survey reported that 59% of “older shoppers” say they’re motivated by the joy of giving. This cohort also said price becomes 35% less important (compared to 31% less important for all cohorts) during the holiday season.

But that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate a good deal. For retirees on a fixed budget, saving money remains equally important to snagging the perfect present.

For many people, Amazon Prime Deal Days, going on this October 7 – 8, marks the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season. More than one-quarter (29%) of US shoppers made a purchase during last year’s Prime Big Deal Days, with 66% buying gifts for themselves and 69% buying gifts for others, according to the survey.
