It’s National Coffee Day: Where to Get Your Free Coffee Today
If you haven’t had your morning coffee yet, you might want to skip the coffee maker.
Today, Sept. 29, is National Coffee Day, which means coffee shops, restaurants and convenience stores across the country are handing out free coffee and offering other caffeine-fueled deals. As usual, there’s some fine print. A few places are giving away coffee with no strings attached, while others require a purchase, an app or membership in a rewards program.
Here’s where to look for a free — or really cheap — cup today.

Dunkin’
Dunkin’ Rewards members can get a free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase through the Dunkin’ app on Sept. 29.
You’ll need to be a rewards member and activate the offer in the app before ordering.
Krispy Kreme
You could pair your doughnut with a free coffee today.
Krispy Kreme is offering a free small or medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase at participating shops.
The chain is also selling an Original Glazed Coffee Flavored Doughnut for a limited time, in case simply drinking your coffee isn’t enough.
Circle K
Circle K is offering a free medium hot or iced coffee through its app at participating locations.
There’s no purchase required, but you’ll need the Circle K app to claim the deal. It’s limited to one per customer while supplies last.
Aroma Joe’s
This is one of the better deals if you have an Aroma Joe’s nearby.
Customers can get a free 16-ounce hot or iced coffee, with no additional purchase required.
Rewards members can also get an offer for a free 24-ounce hot or iced coffee that can be used through Oct. 5. Aroma Joe’s doesn’t have the national footprint of Dunkin’ or Starbucks, but it has locations in several states, including Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New York, Rhode Island and Florida.
Einstein Bros. Bagels
Buying breakfast? Your coffee could be on the house.
Einstein Bros. Bagels is offering any size or flavor of iced coffee free with a purchase at participating locations. You don’t need to belong to the chain’s loyalty program or download a coupon, but you’ll need to mention the National Coffee Day deal when you order.
Caribou Coffee
Caribou Coffee is also joining the celebration.
Buy a beverage and you can get a free medium hot coffee or cold brew at participating locations. You don’t have to be a Caribou Perks member to take advantage of the deal. Nonmembers can ask for it when ordering in the store or drive-thru.
Whataburger
Yes, even a burger chain is giving away coffee.
Whataburger customers can get a free 16-ounce hot or iced coffee on Sept. 29, and there’s no purchase required. The obvious catch: You need to live somewhere with a Whataburger nearby.
Paris Baguette
Paris Baguette Rewards members can get a free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase today. You’ll need to be a member of the bakery chain’s rewards program to get the offer.
Sheetz
If you live in Sheetz territory, check your rewards account before buying coffee today. My Sheetz Rewardz members can get a free self-serve coffee for National Coffee Day.
Peet’s Coffee
Peet’s isn’t giving its coffee away, but 25 cents isn’t bad. For National Coffee Day, customers can pick up a medium drip coffee for just a quarter.

National Coffee Day deals can vary by location, and many are available only at participating stores. Some also require you to order through an app, belong to a rewards program or buy something else first.
